**IMPORTANT UPDATE/PERSONAL MAIL**
Cumberland County Detention Center will no longer process personal mail (letters, cards, pictures, drawings, etc) at the facility. All mail will be processed offsite using a “mail scan” system through our vendor ViaPath Technologies. There, it will be scanned and sent digitally to the recipient. All personal mail received at the previous address will be returned to the sender beginning on this date.
Anyone wishing to send personal mail to a resident of the Cumberland County Detention Center will now need to address their correspondence to:

IMPORTANT –Please ensure that you use the Recipient’s ID number from Gettingout.com, not the Booking ID number found on Cumberland County’s website.
1) Login to Gettingout.com: Access the website and log in using your credentials.
a) If you don't have an account, please create one under Log In.
2) Navigate to the Contacts Tab: Click on the "Contacts" tab located in the navigation menu.
3) Select the Detention Center: Fromn the drop-down menu, choose "Cumberland County Detention Center NC".
4) Find the Resident: Enter the resident's name in the search bar.
5) Identify the Booking ID Number: The Booking Number that appears is the ID Number you should use on the envelope.
By following these steps, you ensure that the correct ID number is utilized for a smooth process.
This address is for personal correspondence only. Legal mall, books, and packages must still be sent to the current address and MUST include the inmate’s first, middle and last name.

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE RECEIVED THROUGH THE MAIL:
** Photographs or other pictures writings that are of nude(s), suggestive in nature, showing gangs, gang tattoos, or hand gestures or other similar signs will not be allowed.
** With regard to books, ONLY softback books will be accepted. We will not accept anything not sent directly from the publisher, nor anything of an explicit sexual nature, items which call for, provide instructions for or which encourage violence.
The staff from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center have attempted to provide an accurate and complete list of items not permitted to be mailed to inmates. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Cumberland County Detention Center have the right to continually update this list and to return or hold into evidence any items(s) where those items are deemed potentially harmful or where they may cause a possible insecure environment to the general inmate community.
All mail must include the return address of the sender.
